How many times have the media, our governmental leaders, even so-called Christian leaders referred to the hateful and murderous acts of Islamic followers as “radical” or “extremist”? How many times have these terms been falsely equated? Extremist means: advocating or resorting to measures beyond the norm, especially in politics. Radical means: from the root.
According to what is being done to this man in Iran, under Sharia Law, are the acts that have been perpetrated in the name of Allah throughout the world extremist or are they radical, that is, are they beyond the norm or do they truly represent the religion of Islam?
This man has been tried and convicted of professing to be a Christian. Actually, he is accused of converting to the Christian faith from Islam. He says that he never was a Muslim. Regardless, he has been convicted of the crime of converting to the profession of believing in Christ and has been sentenced to death.
Is this the way of Islam? It is according to the Quran. It is according to centuries of Islamic law and practice.
If this is extremism, why are not the Muslims of the world screaming in outrage? Have I missed it? Has there been such an outcry from the so-called moderate Muslims? Are they denouncing this ruling of the Iranian courts as being against the will of their Allah and their religion of Islam?
While my search has not been extensive, I have found nothing of such an outcry being reported. One search was: “Are Muslims defending Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani?” Google produced only articles regarding what others are saying against this crime against humanity. Nothing appeared that answered the actual query. No examples were produced of any Muslim speaking out on behalf of this man being persecuted and sentenced to death for his profession of faith. (Nota bene: I only checked the first five pages of articles or fifty articles.)
However, Google did produce this article in which Nadarkhani’s attorney speaks out.

The article does not say whether or not the attorney is Muslim, although some of the statements of the attorney would seem to indicate that he is not.
But returning to the issue of whether these actions are extremist and going beyond the norm of Islam or is actually radical and following the very root or foundation of Islam, what does this action of the Iranian courts reveal?

Where have all the police gone?
My neighbor has been in need of a ride home from work of late. He works in a part of town that is not safe to be walking late at night and he is released from work at 11:15 pm. His work place is seven and a half miles away, and after a long day’s work, that is a long way to have to walk home through dangerous neighborhoods. So, late Friday night he and I were traveling homeward on South Seneca and we saw a myriad of flashing colored lights around Seneca Bowl.
As we drew nearer we had to slow down. Police cars were lined up all along the north block. They filled the west parking lot. Twelve police cars were lined up along Seneca. More police cars were packed into the south parking lot and the parking lots of the neighboring businesses. My best estimate is a count of over forty police cars. At least one helicopter continued flying overhead.
Why? Was this a hostage situation? Was this a dirty bomb threat by terrorists?
After driving home I tried to glean information from various news reporting agencies. Nothing showed up anywhere. Saturday’s newspaper showed nothing either. Surely such an enormous disturbance in the neighborhood warranted some form of public explanation!
Today I called the bowling alley and asked about the situation. I was informed that a couple of jerks started fighting and the police officer that is hired to maintain security radioed for back up. But his radio cut out and the dispatcher signaled that an officer was in distress.
Now I sympathize with those who serve as police officers that if an officer is in need of help that they all want to come to their brother’s aid. I understand that they all relate to the sense of need not to be left alone in such a situation. But the dispatcher knew that it was a simple situation of two jerks fighting. Is there any justification for 40 or more police cars cramming into such a small area for such little reason? Is there any justification for leaving the rest of the city unguarded?
What about the distress that they caused to the poor people of the neighborhood? What about those especially who live next to this block? I live five blocks from there and it troubled my spirit. Surely those who were closer must have felt troubled.
Moreover, this was a terrible waste of manpower and money.
I do not want to disparage the police and sheriff’s departments nor those who serve. Nevertheless, something is very askew in this matter. This is not right. It is actually a dangerous thing. This is a very serious lack of effective communication in matters that impact the community’s safety. How is such error possible? How can two belligerent and unruly jerks become cause for an enormous invasive force of armed agents of the government?
Was this a joke? What could the officers have been thinking to pile upon each other as they did? The parking lots were jammed full of police vehicles. It was nearly like the nutty pile up scenes in comedy movies where the silly police ram into each other, flipping and crashing and landing on each other while the bad guys race off unscathed. Perhaps this is why it went unreported in the media. How would the city of Wichita and Sedgwick County explain this without embarrassment? My neighbor was able to observe two handcuffed men sitting in the parking lot, but no other activity besides the horde of police vehicles, as we drove past. Two silly men and forty or more police vehicles with the accompanying officers. Wow. Such proficiency leaves one in awe. No wonder we keep hearing about the need to increase taxes to provide for a larger police budget.

Unpleasant Surprise
This week a very disturbing event occurred. Some lowlife stole the catalytic converter from my work truck. It is difficult for me even to comprehend someone doing something like this. From the GMC dealership the part alone is nearly $900.00. An aftermarket unit is less. Of course the time and aggravation involved is even more costly, taking away from my ability to work and earn an income.
I had heard of these things happening, but still it seems unbelievable to me that people would do such things. For what the thieves will get for the stolen part, the same money could have been earned doing simple work that benefited others. Even in this broken economy, honest work can be found if one seeks it.
One of the things that continually confronts me whenever I encounter such foreign things as this, is that if the churches steal the precious truth from people as they continually do, why should I be surprised if such things as this happen in the world? This, too, is beyond my understanding. I know it to be what keeps happening and I know it to be what is done, but it still seems unbelievable to me.
I pray for the thieves both in the world and in the churches. The "Our Father" (Lord's Prayer) teaches us so to pray. God grant that we all are called to the new life of repentance and true faith.
Yet, I also am glad for God's promise that those who do not repent and reject the faith of the Lord Jesus, that these destroyers of tranquility and peace and good will not be permitted to cause havoc in heaven. While I deeply desire that all people receive the miracle of true faith and the salvation that is by faith, I am glad that in His justice God will not permit the evils and the pernicious false doctrine and practices of the world to ruin the kingdom of heaven. Those who refuse to be called to repentance will not be allowed to overthrow the good that God has established. This is truly comforting news in this wretched world of sin and turmoil. Heaven is and shall always be safe.
God preserve us that we may continue in that safety until the day of His return in glory.
